From 'This Morning'
16.02.10 I have felt so angry today; eversince watching a stupid programme on television, I only turned it on to lessen the unbearable boredom of ironing and now rather than being bored I'm furious! Their subject was rape and once again the media, in their infinite wisdom (forgive the sarcasm) deems it necessary and/or appropriate to report that 1 in 10 women think that a woman deserves to be raped if she is drunk. They also discussed whether a woman deserves to be raped if she dresses provocatively and/or flirts amongst other things. How can any woman, or man for that matter EVER deserve rape? Everyone knows 'no' means 'no' and we all need to understnad that someone who is incapable of consenting is NOT consenting. We all have the right to drink as much as we like. This isn't the fucking dark ages. We don't wear corsets or cover ever inch of our bodies because that isn't the fashion (some might due to religious necessity and unfortuanely even these women are raped). Of course a lot of women mimic those in the media, isn't that what has always happened? Woman have apparently liberated themselves but instead of being able to wear whatever we like we can only do so at some sort of cost or risk to ourselves. How can it possibly be right that we are expected to accept that a man simply might not be able to control himself? Some can and most do! It is never right to abuse children. Or might this same fraction of society say that if a child got drunk and/or wore provocative clothing and/or flirted with someone, that they would deserves sexual abuse?
